IBM PC Jr.Donna Kastner's Journey

Necessity is the mother of invention.  In 1984, after the birth of our first son, this mother realized returning to my teaching job wasn’t going to cut it. I needed to invent a new career plan – one that would provide flexibility, fulfillment, and a healthy dose of income to support the growing needs of our family.

The 80’s also marked the birth of the personal computer.  Remember the IBM PC Jr.? Well, this Mom managed to convince a publishing firm in New Jersey to take a chance on me.  With credit card in hand, I bought my very own PC Jr. and started typesetting book manuscripts from home.

Before long, I recruited a team of work-at-home typesetting Moms and this entrepreneur was off and running.  In 1993, I developed America’s Work-at-Home Secrets, a series of books and tapes to help others start their own home-based businesses. This self-help kit was promoted through nationally-televised infomercials and paved the way for The Work-at-Home Show, which I hosted on radio.

Later, I decided to return to the “bricks & mortar” work world and enjoyed one heck of a learning experience about B2B sales and performance management.  An MBA is impressive, but there's nothing like hands-on learning in the field.

Alas, the entrepreneurial dream never died and today, I’m back on my own, coaching others on business development pursuits. I share this story because if I can do it, you can, too!

Today, there may be rumbles in the economy, but it’s truly a time of great opportunity for people like you and like me.  With the right mix of talent, marketability, and commitment to learning, the possibilities are endless!

GO MAKE IT HAPPEN!
